Paddy Power David Moyes Stunt

Paddy Power have hit the headlines with another controversial PR stunt.

The brand is continuing to make hay from the recent sacking of Manchester United manager David Moyes, this time by taking over a giant media wall in Liverpool city centre proclaiming ‘Agent Motes, Mission: Accomplished’.

The Irish bookmaker also placed a David Moyes statue outside of Anfield ahead of Liverpool's clash with Chelsea yesterday. The statue displayed "for services to Liverpool Football Club."

During his tenure in charge, Moyes turned United from champions into a side languishing in seventh position. Rivals, Liverpool, who finished seventh last season, have flipped in the other direction and became odds-on favourites to win their first top flight title in 24 years.

The sarcastic advert was purposefully conceived to resonate with Scouser’s familiar with a famous 1998 banner hung over Anfield, which had a dig at the clubs then chairman peter Johnson who switched sides to arch-rivals Everton.

Now with history having come full circle Paddy Power are keen to follow up their recent social media success by tapping into that vein of history.

A representative of Paddy Power said: “Liverpool fans are currently living the dream with a magic combination of their success and Man Utd’s failure. The shocking season for their Mancunian rivals has been made all the sweeter with Agent Moyes at the helm for their downfall.”
