Legacy 2014
In conjunction with Consolidated PR, Kommando recently devised a nationwide tour on behalf of the Scottish Government and the XX Commonwealth Games, asking Scots what they want the lasting effect of next year’s Commonwealth Games to be.
People attending the tour were able to find out how their community would benefit, add their face to the legacy campaign and place their legacy wish on a specially created wishing tree.

The tour saw photo marketing specialists, PixAngels, present images as a free token of the day. Photos were secured within a branded frame which in turn pushed consumers online to view, share and download their photo and Legacy message.
The ‘Your Legacy 2014’ tour has provided an important platform for both public engagement and media activity, Consolidated PR commented, “Kommando turned around our brief for a 13-date Scotland-wide tour in three short weeks. We had confidence in their ability to deliver from the outset, with our many requests dealt with efficiently and professionally. The creative was strong, as were the results. As this was the first time we’d taken our Legacy 2014 message on the road, creating impact was key. The team got that, and absolutely delivered.”
XX Commonwealth Games
On the 23 July 2014, the XX Commonwealth Games will open in Glasgow. While the Games themselves will provide 11 days of memorable sport, they also will bring a wealth of opportunities which go beyond delivering a world-class sporting event.
From the outset, the Scottish Government has been clear that the Games must create a lasting legacy for Scotland - a legacy that is about developing healthy individuals and communities, and a strong and flourishing economy. The Legacy 2014 campaign aims to inform people of the positive and lasting benefits being created in the lead up to the Games and beyond.
A wide range of programs are underway across Scotland to inspire people to be more active, strengthen cultural connections at home and internationally, support sustainability and help businesses develop and prosper.
